Using the Data Viewer

Getting Started

This is your Beacon ARC data browser. You got here by sending data: in Slack. Your session lasts 30 minutes and extends automatically as you browse. Use the Extend button next to the timer to manually reset it.

Browsing Data

Use the tabs at the top to switch between People, Projects, Ideas, Tasks, Capture Log, and Cross Refs. Each tab loads its own data with server-side pagination — use the page controls at the bottom to navigate.

Click any column header to sort by that column. Click again to reverse the sort order.

Searching & Filtering

Type in the Search box to filter across all text fields in the current tab (name, notes, tags, etc.). The search is case-insensitive and updates as you type.

For tabs with a status column (Projects, Tasks, Capture Log), use the status dropdown to filter by a specific status.

Toggle Hide archived to show or hide archived records.

Editing Records

Editable tabs (People, Projects, Ideas, Tasks) have an Edit button on each row. Click it to open the edit form where you can change any field. Tags should be entered comma-separated (e.g., client, follow-up, urgent). Click Save to apply your changes.

Archiving & Deleting

Archiving is a soft delete — the record stays in your database but is marked as archived. You can still see archived records (they show a yellow "Yes" badge in the Archived column) and you can un-archive by clicking Edit and unchecking the Archived toggle.

To archive in bulk, check the boxes on the left side of each row, then click Archive Selected. For Cross Refs, bulk action performs a permanent delete instead.

Archived data is excluded from Slack commands like list: and show:, but still appears in the data viewer unless you toggle "Hide archived."

Exporting

Click Export View to download a CSV file of all records matching your current search and filters (not just the current page). Great for backups or working in a spreadsheet.

Read-Only Tabs

Capture Log shows every message ARC processed from Slack — what it classified, where it filed, and whether it succeeded. This tab is read-only.

Cross Refs shows relationships ARC detected between your records (e.g., a person mentioned in a project). You can delete cross-references but not edit them.

Session & Security

Your session expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. Browsing, searching, editing, and clicking Extend all reset the timer. When it expires, send data: in Slack again for a new link. Each link is unique to your account — no one else can see your data.
